Yeah, been a long time.  There is a bunch of things going on, but I don’t feel compelled to put them up here.  Don’t know why.

Aiden graduated from Kindergarten a couple weeks ago.  That means next year we will have an “all day schooler”!  He turned 7 just a few weeks ago as well.  Where does that time go????

Paige finished round one of preschool, and gets the same teacher next year.  We are very excited because we all really like Mrs. M.  She does a great job with the kids, and the kids all love her.  Even Finn!

Mr. Finn is a walker now.  He doesn’t crawl at all anymore.  He’s also transitioned to the one nap a day routine.  Rough some days, but he does well overall.  Thankfully, he is sleeping through the nights.

Kim has been going through the process of becoming a surrogate.  That has been temporarily put on hold.  Couple more trips to the doctor, and a couple of procedures so far.  We’re waiting to see what happens, and hopefully her dream of being a gestational carrier will become reality.  I’d still like to beat the high holy hell out of the bastard that screwed up her surgery last summer.  This has been going on for almost a year now.

Me?  Well, I’m working now.  Got a job about a month ago now, and just finished week one on my own.  Not that it matters since my trainer didn’t do much training anyway.  I worked a full day today for the first time in years.  I’m beat!  Oh, and part of my job includes using a tablet PC, so I’ve got a new toy….a new toy that I can’t mess with.  Dang!

It has now been just over a month since I last posted.  I’m still not smoking, as of now, but there have been a couple slips along the way.  Mostly it was just me in my old habit not paying attention.  Over the course of the last few months there has been something going on with Kim that (I think) I have failed to mention on here.  It was mainly due to the, “Let’s see what happens with it before I say anything” kind of thing.  Well, I guess now is a good enough time.

In the past 7 years, Kim has been pregnant 3 times.  She is one of the odd women that enjoys the pregnancy time.  She says it is almost “magical” time.  In that same time we have come to the agreement that 3 children of our own is all we wanted.  This kinda bummed Kim out a bit, but since I got snipped just over a year ago, yeah, it is sure not going to be mine.  Introducing, Surrogate Kim.

She started researching surrogacy quite a while ago, and really started researching late last year.  At least that’s when I really started noticing it.  She talked with quite a few agencies, requested information, and just made general inquiries.  Then she came across a few that she really liked.  From there she did their questionnaires for potential surrogates.  After all this time she narrowed it down to one that she really liked.  I’ll stick with her abbreviations for simplicity.   CS has gone through all the medical records for Kim as well as background checks (criminal and bankruptcy) for both of us.  We did the phone call “interview” with the social worker from the agency.  Then we were told we’d get emails for potential intended parents (IP’s for short).  Well, while on the phone with the social worker I made it clear that I’d prefer someone in the USA, but Kim also let it be known that she was not opposed to an international match as well.  Kim also talked about the time she spent in Germany as a child, and it was brought up that my family had once had a German exchange student.  Yeah, so “K” (the social worker doing the interview) dropped a little tidbit for us.  There was a couple in Germany that has been waiting for 6 months to find a surrogate.  That’s it.  Dangle the carrot.

Now, again, I didn’t want an international match, but really, something just felt okay with this one.  We rely on our gut instincts for some things around here, and this seemed like one of those times.  C.S.’s legal department went through to make sure the laws between here and Germany were complimentary, and apparently they were.  Once they cleared us legally, they sent us the info on the couple in Germany.  Now, keep in mind that the couple had already seen our information and said they liked us and wanted to move forward.  Then we got their info.  Kim was taking Paige to school when I checked her email (knowing something should be arriving very soon) and when I saw that email with the subject line reading “Potential Match”….yeah, I tried calling her to tell her to hurry up and get home.  We then both sat and read through the information and looked at the included pictures.  I don’t know why, but we didn’t send the reply immediately saying, “We like this couple.  We’d like to move forward.”  We figured we’d wait and do it the next day.  So Friday morning we talked about it a little bit more after Kim got home from work.  Then she went to bed.  I should have emailed while she was sleeping, but didn’t.  This poor couple had to sit and wait all weekend to hear an answer that we knew pretty much immediately after reading their profiles.

Monday morning they heard the news that we would like to move forward.  Next up, a conference call.  AWKWARD.  Kim likened this to a blind date.  Thankfully, I’ve never had to go on one before, but I can figure the uncertainty.  So this morning Kim pulled up a chair at my desk and we pulled open Skype.  After a few technical difficulties we had a video call underway.  However, there was some bandwidth problems and eventually we settled for a Skype voice call.  At least we got to see their faces for a few minutes first!

About the couple.  One of the things that Kim and I both agreed on was that the ideal couple would be composed of two gay men.  Why?  Not to discredit women, or anything like that, but the thought of being able to help a couple that could in no way, shape or form carry a baby themselves was ideal.  These two guys seem very happy, have a very stable support group consisting of friends, parents and I believe “Grandma” was tossed in there as well.

Once the call was done we sent an email to C.S. saying, yes, we like these two.  So, N & Y, we hope you liked us too.

It has been a great long while.  I know…I’m a slacker.  I’m not sure what changed, but it seems like I can’t retain the things I want to blog about.  But there are a few things that have started happening….

Biggest news: Finn is mobile.  He started “crawling” a full 2 months earlier than either of the other two.  The reason it is in quotations is because he isn’t actually crawling.  Instead of being on all fours, Finn has opted to basically do the splits and pull himself around.  I can only imagine that the legs are being utilized as stabilizers so that he doesn’t fall forward or backwards while moving.  I also believe he is doing it this way (and the others didn’t) because of the hardwood floors.  Aiden always had to deal with mostly carpet on the main floor, and Paige started the standing/walking literally when we got the hardwoods installed.  We have a great picture of her standing in the emptied out living room just prior to leaving the house for a few days to have the floors installed…she is very unsure of her balance.  Anyway, Finn is now also pulling himself up on things and cruising around the coffee table.  We’ve rearranged the living room to maximize play space for the kids, and give Finn the most available space to roam.   However, you can usually find him: playing with the DirecTV receiver, playing with either Kim’s purse or his diaper bag in the dining room, or making a dash for my office door (if its open) so that he can get under my desk and play with the powerstrip….since it has the pretty red power light.  Touch on this in a minute.

Next big news?  Aiden is reading up a storm.  He started just a little while ago, but he is the one reading bedtime stories for the most part.  Tonight was the first night he had me read a book in a while.  He wasn’t comfortable reading a big book (although I know he could have read it easily), but filled in things and corrected me a couple times.  So I like to ad-lib occasionally… whoopee.  He is still doing well in school, and we should be getting his next report card on Monday.

Paige is baffling.  How we ended up with a girly-girl is beyond me.  She is in love with being a princess, and big poofy party dresses.  She now has 2, with Mama fixing up another one for her.  She requests to wear them almost daily.  She loves having “pretties” in her hair to go with the dresses too.  She is going to be trouble….I just know it…..

I had a pretty big day last week.  For the first time since before I graduated, I had a job interview.  This meant getting a haircut and shaving my face.  I had cut my hair and shaved my face for the wedding I performed back in late August.  It was untouched since then.  Yes, it was long.  So, I was able to talk Paige into going with me and getting a little trim, and ONLY a little trim.  She was having NO part in a drastic haircut.  She informed me on the way to the salon (yes, I went to a salon) that she has to have long hair so that others “would know she’s a girl!”  We then had the discussion that sometimes boys have long hair, too.  Then I started on the earrings.  I have six, and I wanted to make sure she knew that boys can have those too.  She was a little disappointed that Daddy and Mama both have six holes, and she only has two.  I told her when she was older she could get more holes in her ear.

Back to the job interview.  It was an entry level position with a market research company here.  One of two market research companies here.  These jobs do not open up often, and they are pretty competitive.  How competitive?  I was one of 121 (yes, one hundred and twenty one) applicants.  From that, 46 were instantly rejected due to lack of cover letter or typos in their resume.  So, that 75 of us.  From that group of 75 there about 10 chosen for interviews.  Yes, I was one of about ten to get an interview.  I’ll say it now, I don’t interview well.  I’ve been told by previous bosses and employers that I could sell ice to an Eskimo in the middle of winter.  Again, I admit, I can sell things….but I despise having to sell myself.  That may be part of the problem.  In any case, I’m still a stay at home Daddy.  I’m sad that I didn’t get the job, but thrilled I still get to be home with my kids.  I’d still love to find a way to stay at home AND earn an income.  For the record, I have started writing one book, and have ideas for a few children’s books.  Here’s hoping.

Next up, Kim.  You may recall that Kim had a less than stellar surgical procedure done last summer.  She is still getting bloodwork drawn for tests regularly, and things still aren’t back to normal.  However, she has been cleared for another pregnancy.  No, not for us.  I can’t do that.  When the doctor cleared her on Tuesday, he made the comment about how “one of us was planning on another one” since I had made contradicting statements.  Thankfully, Kim replied with “It wouldn’t be ours”.  Honey, thank you again for not saying “It won’t be his”.  I can only imagine the confusion for the doctor had THAT come out.  Yes, Kim may get to fulfill her desire to surrogate.  She may only get to surrogate once, if at all.  Yes, I am okay with this for a few reasons.  1) She is a happy pregnant woman.  She LOVES being pregnant and doesn’t get mean.  2) It is her body.  I have no right to tell her what she can and cannot do with her body.  I can voice my opinion, and let her know if I’m uncomfortable with something, but I refuse to be the bastard that tries to tell her outright that she cannot do anything.  3) Holy crap!  They pay you HOW MUCH???? 4) There will be no midnight feedings.  I love all three of my kids, but I do NOT miss getting up multiple times a night to feed them.  In fact, I am very much looking forward to not having diapers to change anymore either.

So there you have it.  I think I’ve caught you up to speed, but I know I’ve missed things in there.  Like I just remembered that Aiden has substituted Spanish words in for the English equivalent while reading (thankfully he lets me know that “its the Spanish word for [...]”

Oh yeah, was going to touch on Finn and the powerstrip again.  In my last blog in November I posted something about my router needing to be reset every couple days, and that D-Link needed to update it NOW!  Well, they haven’t officially done that yet.  I did find a beta of their updated firmware and installed it.  Since I installed it (about a month ago) it has never needed to be reset.  Thankfully, it is stable and performing pretty well (only a small reduction in my Wi-Fi reception area???).  I am happy.  One day, Finn decided it needed a reboot.  He scooted in here while I was working on something, and flipped the powerstrip’s “Master Power” switch.  Hmmmm…yeah, I guess that almost two weeks had gone by without a reboot.  Okay.  It has continued to work perfectly…..

Blog response to Kim’s Blog response to my Blog

Last week I posted a “Vampire vs. Lycan” debate.  Determining which I’d rather be.  Kim took this and spun it to a “which would I rather date” angle (here).  For starters Kim, I’d appreciate you tell me prior to posting on your blog that we are going to be seeing other people.  Mmmmkay?  I thought this was an interesting perspective and, oh hell, why not?  Not like I’ve got other stuff to worry about right now.

Either way you are screwed if they get overly excited because they are both super strong and able to rip you to shreds.

First category: Body Temp
I’m leaning towards the Lycan’s here just because of the freezing cold nature of Vampires.  They are always cold.  Now, sometimes this would be nice, since I do get hot and despise the summer, but I’m thinking middle of December jumping into bed and having Frosty the Fricken-Snow-Woman in bed next to me.  Plus, there’s the wanting to cuddle and yeah, just not digging it. Lycan 1, Vampire 0

Second category: available time
Ok, so Vampires can only be out and about for part of the day, but Lycan’s can be out at all times. This one is tricky because I am so not a morning person, and I tend to stay up late (0200-0300) but still like being able to go do things with the family during the day. Plus, there are parent helper days at Paige’s preschool, soccer games for both kids, birthday parties, etc. Yeah. Lycan 2, Vampire 0

Third category: accidental infection
Ok, they get angry, a little too excited in the heat of the moment, etc. and they decide to turn me. Lycan’s damn near take off your shoulder with their bite. Ouch. It is usually displayed as a big torn open mess. Vampire’s have two nice little holes. Gee, tough call. Lycan 2, Vampire 1

Fourth category: presentation
I don’t know why, but they just can’t seem to make a sexy Lycan. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen a female Lycan. Then you get someone like Kate Beckinsale in Underworld and Rhona Mitra in Underworld Rise of the Lycans. Nice skin tight black latex. Yeah… Lycan 2, Vampire 50 Sorry, but that outfit alone is worth more than just 1 point!

Ok, now that I have the image of Kate Beckinsale in Underworld in my head (on on my rolling desktop wallpaper thanks to Windows 7)…yeah, Vampire’s win.

So, I haven’t been diligent in updating this blog.  Kim flips me crap about it…so much so that she’s decided to start her own blog.  Ok, so it probably isn’t entirely because of my “lack of updates”, but I’m sure it doesn’t help.  You can find hers over at: nuttymonkeymama.blogspot.com Yes, she decided to follow others into the “easy” way of blogging.  Not that this way was difficult, but again, she is showing her independence from me.  She even stated in her first blog that she didn’t want me to do anything with her blog unless she absolutely needed it.  I’m not going to argue.  I’m excited that people will be able to see things from both of our perspectives.  Of course, there could be some slight downsides to this too.  Perhaps I should start cleaning more?

So much has happened since I last did a decent update.  Kids soccer games, changing of home services, Finn’s everything.  Let’s start as far back as I can remember….well, important things anyway.

Paige is taking to soccer much in the same way Aiden did.  Little slow to figure it out, then WOO HOO.  Three weeks ago (so September 26th) she was learning what she needed to do.  No fits were thrown, but she wasn’t really running after the ball all that much.  Two weeks ago it was cold.  So cold that I was snuggling Aiden under the quilt we keep in the back of the van.  Paige was wearing something like 3 layers and running.  She scored 3 goals (although one was technically just after the halftime whistle) and was SO excited.  She was catching on.  This past week was another 4 goals.  Again, one technically doesn’t count because the ball apparently went out of bounds and she just rolled it back in and kept going.  So she plays by her own rules…big deal.  She’s having fun and it isn’t looking like a complete waste of money.

Aiden’s team has pretty much dominated this season.  The first two games all included a period of time (usually at least half the game) where the other team gets to use an extra player.  Last week was a little funny.  All this year it is supposed to be 4 vs 4, but last week we were short players.  We started out with 5 players, but 2 left at halftime.  I’ll get on my soapbox about that in a minute, but we played the last half of the game 3 vs 3 with no subs for our team.  Aiden scored 3 times, and the other two kids that stuck around also scored once each.  It was a nice change to see kids that don’t normally score often boot that ball in the goal.  At one point there was one kid on our team that had to use the bathroom so it became 2 vs 2.  Good times.  This last week we suffered our first loss….technically.  I don’t see it as a loss considering the fact that there was a dirty player on the other team and the ref wasn’t calling anything.  All in all this kid (#22) shoved Aiden down at least 3 times that I saw, and tripped him twice….one trip ended up with Aiden bracing his fall and really hurting his hand.  Now, granted, he is a crier, but not usually in soccer.  He is very good about hopping back up and shaking it off.  This other kid tripped or shoved people on our team constantly and the side refs kept signaling there was a foul, but all the on field ref did was shrug and mouth “I didn’t see it”.  Well no shit.  The whole point of the side refs is to help the on-field with things she might not see.  We lost by 2 goals, we had 5 out of 8 players, and the dirty kid was allowed to get away with everything.  I did have a conversation with Aiden about when it may be appropriate to push and whatnot in a game, but I also need to try to teach him how to do it without getting caught.  Is that bad?

Ok, the soapbox.  Two kids left Aiden’s soccer game at halftime a couple weeks ago.  One of them had to leave so that he wouldn’t miss his football game.  WTF?  Seriously?  Why would you sign up a kid for two sports in the same season that will have overlapping game times?  Pick one and stick with it.  Maybe he should just play football so that we can get a kid that wants to be at the whole soccer game and help his team?  Especially when we’re already short  people!

Then there is Paige’s team.  There are two kids that don’t seem to want to play….ever.  One kid even had his grandma on the field holding his hand a couple weeks ago.  Then she drug him up and down the field.  WTF is the point in that?  He doesn’t want to be there, he doesn’t want to play, and no matter how much you mimic a foosball player, HE ISN”T PLAYING!!!!  There are kids that enjoy playing and have to sit on the sidelines while we watch this bullshit happen week after week.  Yank him.  Don’t bother bringing him.  Spend the money and buy him a couple new DVDs.  Then he can enjoy them while just sitting motionless, and you won’t have to pretend he’s playing and repeatedly comment to other parents that “he’s not normally like this”.  Bullshit.  He’s been like that since the first practice, and it is NOT going to change.

09-10-09

Another week is almost in the bag.  That means it is almost time for Kim to go back to work.  We don’t like weekends here…that’s when Mama works.

Aiden and Paige both have soccer games this Saturday.  Paige’s is at 1030 and Aiden’s is at Noon.  This should be interesting with Finn in attendance and Kim attempting to attend both games.  Oh yeah, Kim works Friday and Saturday this week.  She can’t miss Paige’s first soccer game so she’s going to zombie it.

Finn had his 6 month checkup today.  Got weighed, measured, looked over, and received a few shots as a parting gift.  Personally, I’d ask for a refund.  He’s breaking the mold with our kids….he was in the 55th percentile for head circumference.  Ok, that’s not unusual.  In fact, if anything it is a little lower than I expected.  But the bell-curve-wrecking stat is his height.  65th percentile.  The other two tend to hover MUCH lower.  Apparently Finn is going to be the big one of the three.  Helpful, I guess, when you’re the baby of the family.

Aiden had soccer practice tonight, and Kim and Paige attended with him.  I stayed home with Finn since I’m fighting a bitchin summer cold.  When they walked in afterwards I was surprised by how red they both were.  I kind of expected Nutty to be worn out, but Monkey was almost as red in the cheeks!  Thank goodness it wasn’t still 90+ out there or they may have cooked!

As I mentioned, I’ve got a summer cold.  Kim has it now too, and I think we can thank public school for it.  Aiden was sounding like he was going to lose his voice the other day, but then was fine a couple days later (cough medicine once).  Meanwhile, Kim and I will probably be down for a week plus.  Perhaps I should quit smoking….maybe colds wouldn’t linger quite as long.

8-28-09a

Ok, so Kim had a follow up appointment yesterday with the Gastrointestinal doctor.  They did another CT scan and I think bloodwork.  This morning she got a call that they found out the pocket of fluid in her abdomen was bigger than it was on the last CT scan that was done.  Great.  At least this time they could drain it!

So, this afternoon I dropped of Aiden at school then came home to relax for a little while.  We headed out around 1345 and dropped off Kim at the hospital since her appointment was at 1430.  After dropping her off Paige, Finn and I headed to pick up Aiden from school.  Thankfully, we only got behind one bus that made four stops along the way.  We got to Aiden’s school about 20 minutes early….so we got dibs on the spot right in front of the school in the pickup lane!

Aiden’s loaded up, and we’re off! We stop by the house because Paige needs to potty, then we stop and get a snack, and finally we reach the hospital.  Kim should have been done somewhere around 1600.  Instead, at just after 1600 I get a text message from her stating she was still in the waiting room waiting to be taken back.  Crap.  Kim suggests I take the kids somewhere to eat.  Off to Red Robin….

One burger with fries and root beer, one mac and cheese with fries and Sprite, and 2 chicken tenders with carrots and milk…oh, and four ounces of formula for Finn….later….we leave.  Ok, this was not my shining moment.  I managed to take the big kids to the potty (individually mind you) while watching the other older child and Finn at the table from the bathroom doors, making sure each child washed their hands and Finn didn’t fall from the carseat.  Then we all ate no problem.  Even got stopped by Paige in between the two sets of doors so that they could get a balloon.  I told them to hold on tight because if they blew away I wasn’t going to go get any more.  As I am loading up Finn, Paige and Aiden are getting in the van on the other side.  Something happens and the balloon and my sanity….pop!

Now, I went to bed at around 0200 (my fault), got up at 0700 so that I could make sure Paige was dressed, fed and hair done before school, then ran around a TON today.  I was tired, my wife was in having her fourth procedure (that I wasn’t sure if it was going to do any good), and Aiden and Paige were both screaming crying because the balloon popped.  Paige was screaming/crying because it scared the shit out of her, and Aiden was screaming/crying because it was his balloon and…well…he’s a bit of a drama queen.  I lost it.  I yelled.  I yelled louder because they didn’t listen the first time I yelled.  Then I had to yell to be heard over their screaming.  Again, not my finest moment.  Finally got them buckled in and I moved the van towards the front door.  Thankfully, one of the employees was outside, so I asked for another orange (Aiden’s favorite color) balloon without having to leave the kids in the car by themselves.  One new balloon, an apology from Daddy, and we’re on our way.

The hospital called at the end of dinner to let us know that Kim was done.  Everything went well and, hey, guess what…they found that the pocket of fluid was seperated by a “wall”.  Nifty.  She has two holes in her abdomen.  In any case, she is feeling great, well she was when she went to bed.  We are hopeful that this will be the end of it, and that she will now be pain free from this gallbladder incident.  Now, about that other problem…..

8-19-09

The summer is drawing to a close.  I just turned 32, the youngest is rolling over sooner than the previous two did, and my two oldest start school next week.  I’m feeling old.

Tank has been teasing us for a while.  He has been getting on his side for a little while now, but had the usual, “I don’t know where to put my arm and I’m stuck,” syndrome.  Whatever arm was underneath was preventing him from actually rolling over.  Then, one day, I put him on his play-mat (the butterfly) to play for a bit.  Next thing I know, he’s on his stomach.  Then he rolled back to his back.  I don’t think it was until the next day that he rolled to his stomach and then continued the roll to his back.  Yup, he completed his first “log roll”.  Seems like he is trying to catch up to his older brother and sister and is determined to be mobile however he can.  Kim just tried to put him down for a nap, and he was making quite a bit of noise.  When I went in to give him his pacifier I found that not only was he turned 90 degrees from how gets put in the crib, but he was also on his stomach.  Life is going to get interesting soon.

Monkey starts her first round of preschool on Tuesday.  My little princess is going to school.  I am so not ready for this.  Yes, it is only a couple hours a day for two days a week, but it is the first step.  She is still obsessed with My Little Pony, so much in fact that when she and Nutty play superheroes she is “Pony Girl”.  She doesn’t seem to excited for school yet, but we’ll see how much that changes in the near future.  She has also fully incorporated herself into Nutty’s Xbox time.  As long as a game that allows 2 people has been selected, she’s on it.  She has her own controller and knows exactly where I keep it.

Nutty is getting ready to start Kindergarten.  Wow.  I have a child in elementary school.  Not much is going on with him lately.  He’s still building all sorts of new creations with his Legos, and has a knack for leaving the small ones on the rug in the living room.  You know, the ones that blend in and you don’t see until you step on them barefoot.  He is a great big brother and is always looking out for his little sister and little brother.

Kim is starting to feel like her old self.  She has a bit of pain in her abdomen, but it is believed that it is just residual pain from the bile leakage which should get better over time.  She is slowly getting back to her normal routine, and will hopefully be as close to 100% as possible.  I don’t think she’ll ever be the same, but she married me so I already know she’s “off” a bit.

8-10/11-09

Been a filled, stressing, horrible and hope-filled couple of days.  Yesterday started off great.  I woke up around 0530 to feed Tank.  When I got up around 0730 with him I noticed Kim was in bed already.  This was very unusual for her to be in bed already.  She had gotten to come home early yesterday morning and was actually in bed when I got up to feed Tank.  Cool, that means she’ll be able to get up a little earlier than normal so that I can go to the DMV to renew my newly expired Driver’s License.  This past Friday was my birthday, and as such, my license expired on that day.  I didn’t remember, but Kim did…around 1600 when it was too late to do anything about it.  I didn’t worry about it because I never go anywhere with all three kids by myself anyway.

So yesterday at around noon I left with my buddy Puma to get my DL renewed.  I had to go in this time because I’d had LASIK since the last one and needed the restriction removed….no more corrective lenses for me.  While I was out Kim called me and asked me to bring her a peppermint hot chocolate.  I could tell she was having an “episode”.  I asked her then if she was ok, and she said she was.  Then I got home, she was smiling and taking a couple pictures of Tank.  Then she turned to me and I could see that she was in pain.  I asked how long she’d been in pain, and she said not long.  We proceeded to watch an episode of Bones (more on Bones some other time) and after a while she hopped up and was standing behind the couch.  This was how she dealt with pain.  I asked her if she wanted to go to the ER, and she said no.

Fast forward a while longer (and a few more times asking if she wanted to go in) when she looked at me and said she thought we should head in.  A very good friend, Christine, again bailed us out with the kids and Kim and I headed in.  While we were there (at least we got a different room this time) the doctor ordered a CT Scan of her chest and a X-Ray of her abdomen.  As near as the on call GI doc could tell one of her stents was trying to migrate.  Oh yeah, we found out yesterday that she got not one, but two stents a couple weeks ago.  Would have been nice to have had that information.  The one we didn’t know about is the suspect in her pain in her left side.  In any case, Dr. G.I. suggested the stents either be removed or replaced sooner rather than later.  After that she got a dose of pain meds and we were on our way home, after the 15 minute post-drug-check-to-make-sure-you-don’t-go-apeshit waiting period.

As soon as the G.I. doctor’s office opened this morning I was on the phone.  We wanted her stents dealt with today.  As of now, they are.  Kim is currently in the Operating Room with her first G.I. doctor.  We’re all hopeful that this will take care of the pain she’s been having and be the end of the tunnel that we were told we should she the light from.  Her procedure should soon be completed and hopefully it will be her last for a great long while.  Next up is the tonsils in the next year….I don’t think either of us is ready for her to go back under for another procedure that is supposed to be “quick and easy”.

Another day down.  Kim is supposed to go back to work tomorrow, and we’re both hoping it goes well.  She’s burned through all of her PTO between the maternity leave, the mandatory A-days and now the surgery with its complications.  She is doing better, although her original “doctor” doesn’t seem to care what is happening with her now.  You may have noticed that I keep referring to him as her “doctor” with quotes.  The reason being is that I don’t respect him to call him a doctor.  He doesn’t deserve it.  I’m going to research a couple things and we may end up contacting a lawyer about the situation.  No, we aren’t going to try to sue for millions of dollars, basically just enough to pay the medical bills and a little something for all the pain Kim has had to deal with.  Oh yeah, in our house, I just refer to him as “Mr. [Last name]“.  Obviously I’m omitting his name from this because I do respect people that way.

So as of now her doctor that placed the stent has requested follow up bloodwork (they wanted to get her in for the initial bloodwork earlier this week and tomorrow).  I’m glad this doctor’s office is following up and showing a genuine interest in Kim’s well being.

Now for a little bit of fun news.  We took the older two kids to see G-Force today.  Tank stayed home with our kids’ favorite babysitter…Ms. Carrie.  Carrie is a wonderful person and the kids love her.  She sits on the floor and plays with them.  She talks to them, and is just an all around sweetheart.  She reminds me quite a bit of Kim.

Anyway, so we went to the movie theater.  We don’t get to go very often, and the kids always seem to have a good time.  G-Force was not what I expected.  I won’t give you details because I don’t like it when someone spoils it for me, but overall it was enjoyable.  We never did make it to see UP, and I’m a bit disappointed about that simply because a buddy of mine (who sees a ton of movies in the theater) saw it and said it was better than some of the “comedies” that were out at the time.  He liked it better than “The Hangover”.  I will definitely see it (UP) when it comes out on DVD.
