Current mood:  disappointed

I love shoes.  I have more shoes than Kim if you don’t count her flip-flops.  Currently I have a dozen pairs of Jordan’s…Two pairs of the 1’s and 18’s (same shoes just different colorways) , one pair of: the 4’s, 7’s, 19’s, 20’s, 22’s, Par 23 (golf spikes), Team Elite lows, and Floats (sandals).  Then I have a two pairs of Nike Shox (different styles mind you), 4 or 5 pairs of skate shoes from my younger days, a pair of Merrell’s, couple pairs of nice dress shoes, some boots (to wear with my leather pants…yes, I said I own leather pants not that they fit me anymore), some other casual shoes and 4 or so pairs of flip flops.

Ok, so I didn’t count all of my shoes…I just know what inventory I’ve got in stock.  So why is it that I still want more shoes????  I have bookmarks to about 15 different websites that sell Jordan’s (authentic only, no knock offs for me).  One of the places is www.flightclubny.com and they have a massive selection of hard to find shoes.  I was on there the other day just browsing (a very regular occurance for me) and noticed they have a pair of shoes that I have been searching for for about 4 months…in my size!  So what you ask?  Take this into account.

1) They are designed after the Filippino flag.

2) They were never released in the U.S.

3) There are 500 pairs in the world.  Only 500 for the billions of people in the world.

I know some of you are thinking, “So what?  You’re a white boy, why do you want a pair of Filippino shoes?”  Well, some of you may not know that my Grandfather on Pop’s side was born and raised in the Philippines.  About an hour North of Manila.  I am 25% Filippino by blood; which is more than any other single nationality (although there is a TON of Norwegian and such which is why I am as pale as casper in the middle of winter!).

So am I going to buy them?  Well, I’d like to but they are $350 and we just bought a $37,000 minivan.  Ok, so that really has no impact on my decision I’d still order them and almost did on Saturday night when I found them (about 3 hours after buying said minivan)…but I like my bed.  I really don’t care for sleeping on the hide-a-bed and I am pretty sure that if I bought them Kim would invite me to sleep somewhere else for a while.  Granted I would get the bed on weekends when Kim was working, but that is only 3 nights a week…I prefer 7.
